At McLaughlin Law we know how hard it can be starting off in the commercial or creative worlds. We also know how important it is for the later success of your endeavours that you initially set up a solid legal base to work from.
To enable you to put as much of your time and money as possible into getting your business or creative endeavour off to a good start, we select a small number of new and emerging creative entreprises each year to support with some initial legal advice. No matter what your new creative or business project is, if you are finding it hard to afford the legal guidance you need, we may be able to help. Give us a call on 09 363 2038 or drop us an email at legup@mclaughlinlaw.co.nz to find out more.
Although the amount of free legal advice we are able to provide will ultimately depend on our workloads and other existing commitments, we strive at McLaughlin Law to help out wherever we feel it is reasonably possible to do so.
The extent of the work we are able to do through the Leg Up Scheme with those operating in the creative industries is also maximised by the assistance we receive from the Creative People's Centre (www.cpc.org.nz). The Creative People's Centre is a national Arts Law Centre for New Zealand created through a partnership between the Depot Artspace (www.depotartspace.co.nz) and McLaughlin Law.
The Creative People's Centre is both a real world and online national initiative. It is unique in New Zealand and provides free and subsidised legal advice as well as structuring and organisational advice to groups and individuals practising in the creative industries.
In all situations we reserve the right to decide, acting entirely at our own discretion, to whom we make assistance available through the Leg Up Scheme, as well as exactly how much free legal advice we are able to provide.
